At the end of February, the 10th International Anniversary Ukrainian Energy Forum was held in Kyiv. Within three days of the event, its participants discussed important issues on renewable energy and how Ukraine can become independent from imported energy resources.
One of the speakers, DTEK CEO Maxim Timchenko, said: “The formula for Ukrainian energy independence consists of diversifying our supply of energy resources, our own mining and green energy – and we invest massively in achieving this goal. We have managed to invest $ 3.3 billion in Ukrainian coal, $ 300 million – in gas, $ 700 million in renewable energy sources”.
According to the Ministry of Energy Industry of Ukraine, in 2019, a total capacity of renewable energy power plants, put into operation in the country, is expected to increase by 25% compared to 2018.
Thus, in 2019, 1 GW of new “green” power plants can be installed in Ukraine.
