Today, the development of solar energy sector is one of the priority investment directions for both international and East European investors. In addition to large scale projects, the number of small solar stations, including rooftop, is rapidly growing too.
Since 2015, more than EUR 72 mln has been invested in installation of small home solar power stations. The number of solar power stations installed by the Ukrainian households last year exceeded 7500.
Ternopil has got to the TOP 3 regions of Ukraine with the largest number of solar panels installed. In 2017, 240 families had private solar stations there, and in 2018, the sun energy was used by 670 private households. At the end of 2018, the Ternopil region took the third place after the Kyiv and Dnipropetrovsk regions, but according to the number of installed solar power stations per head of population – it was the first.
In general, the TOP 5 of regions with the largest number of solar power stations installed by households looked like this:
- Kyiv – 727;
- Dnipropetrovsk – 694;
- Ternopil – 522;
- Kirovohrad – 401;
- Ivano-Frankivsk – 363.
