Throughout July to September 2019, the power of renewable energy sources in Ukraine increased by 1 GW from 3,6 to 4,6 GW (+27,8%).
During this period, 94 new solar energy plants (792 MW of total installed capacity), 6 wind power plants (200 MW), 3 biomass stations (5 MW) and 4 small hydropower plants (3 MW) were built in Ukraine.
Total investments in these projects exceeded €900 million.
Such data is presented in the analytical report prepared by the IB Center expert group and is part of the preparation of SEF 2019 KYIV, the 11th Sustainable Energy Forum and Trade Show of Central and Eastern Europe (http://sefkyiv.com/), which will be held in Kyiv on October 16-18 (FORUM: October 16, Hilton Hotel, TRADE SHOW: October 17-18, Exhibition Centre “M82”).
In total, from January to September 2019, the power of renewable energy sources in Ukraine increased by 2,55 GW, +410% more than the same period last year (0,49 GW).
As of September 26, 2019, the total capacity of solar energy stations in Ukraine exceeded 3.29 GW (+117% to January 1, 2019), the capacity of wind energy plants, according to the data of the Ukrainian Wind Energy Association, UWEA, reached 793 MW (+48,8% to January 1, 2019).
The capacities of small hydroelectric power stations make up 104 MW as of September 26, 2019 (+7,2% to January 1, 2019). The growth of power facilities generating power from biomass was also almost 12% – up to 94 MW.
Furthermore, the segment of small roof solar stations are booming in Ukraine. In particular, as of September 26, 2019, the total capacity of homes stations exceeded 310 MW (+97,4% to January 1, 2019).
According to the forecast of IB Centre, by the end of 2019, Ukrainian and foreign developers will have implemented more than 40 new investment projects in the field of renewable energy in Ukraine, with a total installed capacity of more than 450 MW.
