Oil giant BP has announced its intention to rollout a network of ultra-fast charging points for electric vehicles across the UK. A new company, BP Chargemaster, has already been established to implement this project.
To start with, the company plans to open 400 charging points by the end of 2021. Like petrol stations, they will be built in combination with shops and cafes. Each EV charging point is expected to have a capacity of 150 kW and allow charging an electric car for only 10-12 minutes. As a comparison, a driver spends 7 minutes fill a vehicle with fuel at an average.
A new global trend, which has every reason to conquer the market, has determined BP to start launching this project. Not only the UK but also other progressive countries aim at using 100% renewable energy.
