Will the New Ukrainian Electricity Market’s Launch Be Delayed?

On May 22, 2019, the People’s Deputies Oleksandr Dombrovsky and Lev Pidlytsetskii registered a draft law number 10318 on a 3-months delay of the new electricity market launch.

“We believe that three months will be enough to test the readiness of all market participants for working in the new electricity market and to analyze the financial consequences of its launch,” Dombrovsky wrote on his Facebook page.

The draft law provides granting broad temporary authority to NEURC so that it could limit electricity prices to neutralize possible negative price trends in the new market.

The document also provides the “green” tariff for small on-ground solar power plants with a capacity of up to 30 kW.
