Morocco Plans to Become a Leader in the Renewable Energy Sector

Today, the country owns one of the world’s largest solar power plants.

The solar complex, built on an area of more than 3,000 hectares, houses about 3,500 soccer fields. Situated at the entrance to the Sahara Desert, the entire solar plant produces 580 MW of energy, saving the planet from more than 760,000 tons of carbon emissions.

The project has cost USD 600 mln.

Morocco has set one of the most ambitious energy goals in the world. The country aims at reaching 42% of renewable energy facilities in its energy mix by 2020.

The country has taken the right way – today, 35% of its energy is already produced from renewable energy sources.
