Germany Put Into Operation about 1 GW of Solar Power Facilities During First 2 Months of 2019

According to the Federal Network Agency (Bundesnetzagentur), Germany put into operation a number of solar power plants with a total capacity of 970 MW in January and February, resulting in reaching the total installed capacity of solar power about 46.9 GW.

To recap, last year 3 GW of solar power stations were constructed in Germany.

In the near future, the country will reduce its special tariffs for small solar power plants, which to some extent caused the relatively high increase in the number of photovoltaic systems in January and February – investors are striving to hold their higher tariffs steady.

As the country aims at getting 65% of its electricity from renewable sources by 2030, it has to put into operation 5GW of solar power stations annually starting from 2022.
