A 250-MW Floating Solar Power Plant Will Be Constructed in Lithuania

An experimental floating solar power plant which will occupy an area of 300 hectares at Kruonis pumped-storage hydroelectric plant’s 900-megawatt basin. The first stage of the project with a total capacity of 250 MW is planned to be completed by end of 2021. The solar power plant will provide 120,000 households with electricity.

The decision to build the solar plant has been taken jointly by the Ministry of Economy and Innovation and the Lithuanian Business Support Agency (LVPA), which allocated EUR 235,000 for this project.

The floating solar plant will increase the total solar power sector’s capacity in Lithuania by three times.
