First solar power plant with a total capacity of 5 MW has recently been put into operation in Sharm El Sheikh, Egypt. The facility will satisfy the electricity needs of 2,000 households and will allow to reduce carbon emissions up to 3,500 tons per year. It’s the first stage of a complete integrated solar project that is planned to have a total capacity of 40 MW.
Now such projects are being implemented almost in all resorts towns all over the country. The Egyptian government aims to transfer production of up to 20 percent of the total energy produced to production from clean energy sources by 2022.
