Reuters inform that Croatia should see a big boost in renewable energy output in the next three decades, with focus on solar power.
“The goal is to lift the share of the renewable sources in energy production to 90 percent by 2050. It would include solar power, wind power, hydro power and geothermal energy,” said Goran Granic, head of a local energy think-tank tasked with preparing guidelines for Croatia’s future energy development.
Later this quarter, the government is expected to approve the new strategy by 2050.
According to European Union data, Croatia produced nearly 30 percent of energy needs from renewable sources in 2017, mostly in hydro-power plants.
