In 2018, the capacity of solar power plants in Ukraine will exceed 1.2 GW

In 2018, more than 60 new solar power facilities with a total capacity of 382 MW will be built in Ukraine, thus the total capacity of the Ukrainian solar power stations may exceed 1.2 GW.

Such data is presented in an analytical report prepared by the IB Centre expert group based on investment plans of the market players in the context of preparation for the 7th International Solar Energy Conference and Exhibition of Central and Eastern Europe, CISOLAR 2018 (2018.cis-solar.com), which will be held in Kyiv in April 11 -13, 2018.

By the end of 2017 (as of December 10), the total capacity of the Ukrainian solar power plants amounts to 826.1 MW, which is 44.2% more compared to the data as of January 1, 2017.

In particular, in the first half of 2017, 67 new industrial facilities were constructed in Ukraine with a capacity of 126.4 MW. Also, the capacity of private solar power stations increased by 5.6 MW.

In the second half of 2017, 38 new solar power stations of industrial purpose were constructed in Ukraine with a total capacity of 118 MW. The growth of capacity of private stations was equal to 3.1 MW for this period.

In total, by the end of the year, the number of domestic solar power plants is equal to more than 2300 in Ukraine.

The main driver of solar energy development in Ukraine is the low cost of land compared to other European countries and the feed-in tariff rate attractive to investors: € 0.15/kWh for industrial plants and about € 0.16/kWh for domestic stations.

Also, market players expect the industry to grow fast in 2018 since the feed-in tariff rates will be reduced in Ukraine by 20% in 2019.

The 7th International Solar Energy Conference and Exhibition of Central and Eastern Europe, CISOLAR 2018, the largest regional business event, devoted to solar energy industry, will take place in Kyiv on April 11-13 (CONFERENCE: April 11, 2018, Hilton Hotel; TRADE SHOW: April 12-13, Exhibition Centre “ACCO International”, Kyiv, Ukraine).

CISOLAR has confirmed its status as the largest solar power event in Central and Eastern Europe over the past seven years, serving as an effective communication platform for the industry key players, developers and investors. It is at CISOLAR that new projects are born, and multi-million-dollar contracts are signed. CISOLAR continues to grow.
